Southend In Sight is a charity that supports and offers practical help to visually impaired people and their families in the Southend-on-Sea area. They also provide social events and activities, ensuring that those living with sight loss can continue to lead independent, fulfilling and active lives.
In Spring 2024, I worked with Metal on a set of portraits of members, volunteers, carers and staff, as part of a wider project documenting social activities organised by the charity.
Audio recordings were made, with participants being interviewed about what the charity means to them or to talk about their sight loss. The resulting audio / video is still in production and will be available to listen to or view as an accessible version here, once completed.
With thanks to Paige Ockendon of Metal, Georgie Haynes of Southend In Sight, Ecko Sports and Social Club, and SAVS.
